Currently, unless otherwise specified, the Game Therapists on this site choose to use the Mable (formerly Better Caring) care platform for their services and billing.

Mable Technologies Pty Ltd has worked with Zurich Australian Insurance Limited and Gow-Gates Insurance Brokers Pty Ltd to establish a suite of covers that are made available to all its affiliated care workers when providing services arranged and invoiced through the Mable platform.

The Community Care Liability Insurance cover made available to affiliated care workers includes:

 

Group Combined General Liability cover

Group Professional Indemnity cover

Group Personal Accident cover

 

Subject to the terms and conditions of the policies, the covers provide you with the additional peace of mind if you face costs and damages awarded against you as a result of a claim arising from the provision of approved nursing care, personal care, and domestic and social care services to Care Recipients.

 

Please note the covers only apply for work that is arranged and invoiced through the Mable platform.

 

You will not be covered for work arranged or invoiced outside the Mable platform.

 

Group Combined General Liability cover

Insurance Cover for Mable affiliated carers.

The Group Combined General Liability cover provides up to $20,000,000 cover with a deductible of $250 for the legal liability of Mable’s affiliated carers to pay compensation arising out of certain:

  • personal injury
  • property damage; or
  • advertising liability.

The policy also extends to cover, amongst other things:

  • Claims preparation costs for reasonable and necessary out of pocket costs incurred up to $25,000 per affiliated carer at the Insurer’s request in the preparation of a defence up to $250,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance.
  • Court attendance costs up to $250 per day for an insured or $500 per day for a principal, partner or director and $25,000 per affiliated carer in total for court attendance costs if you are legally obliged to attend a civil proceeding as a witness in a claim. The aggregate limit of liability of $250,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance.
  • Inquiries costs up to $50,000 per insured affiliated carer, with an aggregate limit of liability of $500,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance for inquiry costs which you incur in preparing for and attending an inquiry.
  • Molestation by unknown offenders cover for liability and civil liability of $2,000,000 per insured affiliated carer, with an aggregate limit of liability of $10,000,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance. This extension is subject to a higher excess of $10,000.
  • Public relations expenses of up to $25,000 per insured affiliated carer, with a total aggregate liability of $250,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance where the insured affiliated care retains the services of a public relations consult for the sole purpose of protecting their reputation that has been brought to questions as a result of a claim..
  • Fraud and dishonesty cover of $250 reimbursement of pre-approved reasonable legal costs and expenses incurred by an insured affiliated carer in successfully defending any action or allegation where the insured affiliated carer has been accused of theft of any property by a Care Recipient, up to a maximum of $25,000 per affiliated carer, with an aggregate limit of liability of $250,000 across all insureds.
  • Custody and Control – cover for liability of an insured affiliated carer for certain property damage to property owned by, hired to or in the custody of an insured affiliated carer up to a limit of $50,000 for any one occurrence per affiliated carer, with an aggregate liability of $500,000 across all insureds.

Group Professional Indemnity cover

Insurance Cover for Mable affiliated carers.

Zurich’s Group Professional Indemnity cover provides up to $10,000,000 with a deductible of $250 to protect affiliated carers for certain losses arising from a claim in respect of:

  • malpractice, and
  • civil liability,

committed or alleged to have been committed by the insured affiliated carer or for which the insured affiliated carer is responsible.

  • claims for unintentional libel, slander or defamation;
  • loss, damage or destruction of documents that belong to an affiliated carer or that the affiliated carer is legally responsible for;
  • costs and expenses arising from claims and complaints relating to unintentional breaches of the Privacy Act; and
  • claims resulting from unintentional infringement of copyright, trade marks, plagiarism or breach of confidentiality.

The policy also cover, amongst other things:

  • Claims preparation costs for reasonable and necessary out of pocket costs incurred up to $25,000 per affiliated carer at the Insurer’s request in the preparation of a defence up to $250,000 for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance.

  • Loss of documents cover of $10,000,000 any one claim and in the aggregate for all insured affiliated carers during any one period of insurance for loss, damage or destruction of any documents and/or computer records belonging to the affiliated care or for which the affiliated carer is legally responsible as a result of their professional business practice. This extension is subject to a higher excess of $2,000.
  • Privacy complaints and claims civil liability cover of $50,000 per affiliated carer with a total aggregate of $500,000 for all claims for all insureds during any one period of insurance for any privacy costs and expenses arising from any claim or written complaint made against an affiliated carer for unintentional breach of any duty of confidentiality owned to any patient arising at law or any unintentional breach of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Health Records & Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW), Health Records Act 2001 (Victoria) or Health Records (Privacy and Access) Act 1997 (ACT) or similar privacy legislation in any state or territory of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Group Personal Accident cover

 

Insurance Cover for Mable affiliated carers.

Zurich’s Group Personal Accident cover is designed to provide benefits to Mable’s affiliated carers (insured persons) for certain accidental injuries whilst engaged in:

  • approved care work arranged and invoiced through the Mable platform;
  • direct and uninterrupted travel between the insured person’s normal place of residence and an approved care workplace;
  • direct and uninterrupted travel between one approved care workplace and another approved care workplace, and
  • activities undertaken during lunchtimes and meal breaks while at an approved care workplace.

The policy can provide:

– accidental death and capital benefits up to:

  • $100,000 for insured persons with dependents.
  • $50,000 for insured persons without dependents.

– weekly injury benefits in the event of temporary total disablement or temporary partial disablement as a result of an injury after an excess period of 7 days of:

  • 85% of earnings up to $750 per week for the first 8 weeks.
  • 75% of earnings up to $750 per week for the remaining 96 weeks.
