As elders share stories over steaming cups of tea, youngers learn about traditions, hospitality, and the importance of community.

I spent today playing cards with an Iraqi aged social support group at an Iraqi restaurant before Ramadan.  This cultural exchange and intergenerational bonding over banter, food, and games helped integrate me as a new facilitator in a community health organisation.

The game itself here, whether a classic Iraqi favorite or a universally known one (okay, it was 500), becomes a bridge connecting different backgrounds. Laughter and friendly competition transcend language barriers, creating a shared  space of respect and camaraderie.

In the warmth of pre-Ramadan gatherings, cultures and generations come together, celebrating both diversity and the unifying power of play.
